Time to end the hype already

I seriously hope the PS3 will last. I feel that they put too much reliance on Blue Ray technology as their selling point. To me, the idea reminds me of the Mini-Disk player. Ok, the sound quality was a little better than CD, or so they said, but who wanted to buy a new player, and completely restock their music library for just a little better. I mean I am not going to go out and re-buy all my DVDs for Blue Ray Versions for just a little better. Basically the PS3 needs some serious KA games to bring it back up.

That's prolly when I get my PS3, which is annoying a bit because last I heard analysts predict another price drop as early as Q2 08 or so. Ah well, all in the name of Atlus games.

KH3 is gunna be my turning point with the PS3 ... or if they make more xenosaga games... but if they do make more xeno- whatever games I don't think they'd be on the PS3 with how shitty it's doing lol

I'm tempted to buy a PSP too with the new talk about those KH games... or a DS for pokemon, FF3 and the new FF4 remake @_@;; but I dono if 3 games is worth a DS lol... oh brain age 2 might be good also ...... HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

I gotta buy more McDonalds so I can win that million dollars with the monopoly game they're having
 
I actually just picked up the new PSP model today, specifically for FF Tactics, which comes out next week. And, Koul, I haven't enjoyed a Xeno-game since Xenogears, which I loved. I just couldn't get into the Xenosagas. I own them, but never devoted more than 2 hours or so to them. Oh, and FF3 makes a DS worth it. You've also got all the Castlevania games, and Phantom Hourglass just came out =)

Also, I think Sony's strategy is going to work. Not necessarily as a game system, but as a way to make Blu-ray the next gen medium. Gamers are usually the first ones to buy new technology as soon as it's available, and Sony's using that the their advantage. Blockbuster is already favoring Blu-ray over HD-DVD because of their rental numbers. And let's face it -- people are only renting Blu-ray because they happen to have a game machine that can view them. Settop boxes seem to be an even split in sales between Blu-ray and HD-DVD, but the number of Blu-ray owners far outweighs HD-DVD because of the PS3. And by the time these next gen media become mainstream, Blu-ray will already be clearly dominant.

Oh, and there's no way I'd repurchase my DVD's on Blu-ray, especially since the PS3 can upconvert DVD's to 1080p. But I *will* be buying all future releases on Blu-ray. And 300 looks freaking NICE in 1080p.
 
I have to agree that Blu-Ray movies look amazing. There's no real reason to upgrade your existing DVDs, but new movies can definitely be worth it (especially if you have a good HDTV).

I got a ps3 over the summer and have been enjoying it enough that I'm glad I got it when I did (would have waited, but I have a lot of ps2 games and wanted the model with the Emotion Engine in it). Still, I'm really looking forward to some upcoming games. Rachet and Clank, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune look really really good. And I've been excited about FFXIII ever since I saw the first trailer for it. ^_^

I think Sony missed its chance to "win" the console wars this round, but I see enough stuff on the way that the ps3 won't fade away. And I'm certainly glad I don't have to worry about the hardware problems that my Xbox-owning coworkers are having.

OK, I remember you had stated you were going back but I couldn't recall when. Just wanted to make sure the email hadn't been filtered out.

BTW, as someone had asked, Guitar Hero 3 ships October 19. It should be in stores ready to sell on the 20th.

heh if i remember right the real first people to adopt the newest technology is the porn industry. Their was documentary on tv explaining how they helped push technology more and more often.

Really didnt expect a technology show to be talking about porn anyways :x
