Lotting method proposal

At first, you seem to hate a point system for the very virtue of it being a point system, irrespective how fair the system is to everyone.
I was also confused about why you're so against point systems. I can see now that you got burned in the past, so I don't blame you. However, the argument that it's not enforceable within the game is kinda moot since neither is the current system.

At any rate, the pros and cons I see thus far for a point system are:

Pros:
*Takes luck in lotting out of the equation.
*May encourage attendance by people who can't make the current required number of runs due to...
*...allowing anyone to have a shot at lotting Homam/Nashira eventually, regardless of attendance.
*Can help promote more ideal job priority indirectly by allowing the opportunity to aim for a specific piece.
*Gives priority to members who have been lotting a gearset for a while over people who have just switched from Homam to Nashira or vice versa.
*Practically guarantees that a member cannot win a second piece of gear until everyone else with similar attendance gets a piece first.

Cons:
*Assuming an increase in attendance and/or more people with low attendance lotting, increases the number of people to compete with for gear.
*May discourage attendance because, frankly, some people just hate point systems for whatever reason.
*Members with nearly identical attendance would oftentimes be tiered in terms of lotting order.
*Practically guarantees that a member cannot win a piece of gear until everyone else with similar attendance gets a piece first.

Did the people who got those many many pieces in a short amount of time continue to show up?
Nope, they got there gear and disappeared. Then when we replaced them, the new person won all their gear and split too. Then the shell broke.

*May discourage attendance because, frankly, some people just hate point systems for whatever reason.

Ouch.
Of the people that go it looks like I'm the only one strongly against it. I fear teh points the same way women fear me. (guffaw)

Eticket made a couple of points I barely hinted at, and they are major ones, considering how rare (it seems) gear drops ..

Someone mentioned Nashira. Let's say we have 5 people lotting Nashira and all of them want legs. As soon as one person misses a run, for whatever reason, they're 5th on the tier. I understand the virtues of the system but the negatives are there as well.
I just thought of an idea that could help combat that. I was going to draw up a general idea for a possible point system to give people an idea of what we'd be looking at, so I'll include it in there.

*EDIT* No, you're not the only one Rek, just the most vocal about it. :P

Actually this system is used elsewhere Rek and it one of the best and fairest systems i've ever seen.

Oh and no such thing as free lot =p If someone takes it they lose the points.

PRELIM POINT SYSTEM OUTLINE

1. Points are earned the exact same way they are earned currently: 1 point for regular clears, 2 points for Proto fights.
2. There is no minimum attendance requirement to lot gear. There is no max limit to the number of points you can acquire.
3. When a boss is cleared, the person with the highest point total, as well as any member within 5 points of the points leader, will be first tier in lotting. Second tier will include the next highest point leader after the first-tier lotters, as well as any member within 5 points. Etc. You must have at least one point in order to lot.
4. First tier lotters may lot/pass whatever they choose, but can only win one piece of gear per boss, and must pass the others, similar to how we do things now. If the first tier lotters do not claim all of the gear in the pool, the second tier lotters may lot, etc.
5. When a piece of gear is won, points are reset to 0.
6. Members may use points for either Nashira or Homam, and can continue to switch between sets every 3 months.
7. AF/coin lotters must continue to specify that they wish to lot money instead of gear, after each Proto-Ultima. This will not change.
8. In order to lot AF/coins on a run, the member must have at least 2 points saved. It will cost that member two points to lot AF/coins each run they choose to do so. This system will require at least 1 run per cycle where the coin/AF lotter chooses to not lot money in addition to not lotting money during boss fights, and prevents money lotters from saving points for gear.

As an example, let's say that there's only 7 people lotting Homam, and attendance is as follows:
Chiiana 21 points
Dworvos 9 points
Heie 12 points
Nekio 14 points
Redd 4 points
Rhine 16 points
Sojourn 22 points

Lotting tiers would be:
Sojourn/Chiiana (17-22 points) > Rhine/Nekio/Heie (11-16 points) > Dworvos/Redd (9-4 points)

This is my best shot at designing a fair point system. Compare and contrast to the current system.

If I don't win some homam tonight someones gonna get raped.

Whoa whoa whoa. Hold on a second. Why is Soj lotting homam? Brds can't wear homam.

You mean I stopped lotting Homam because of his bitching and he doesn't even have a job that can use it ?!? : O

Let's see how you like it when I show up to events as anything BUT bard. People will cry and whine for me to go change, so shut your DICKS.

Back to your peg @soj

You don't have the authority to tell me anything of the sort.

I've said my piece, I'm not a fan of it. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record I've held back. Just curious what others think now. I assume you might mention this in the group today right?
