Proposal

The joint venture is once a month, but 2 point glacier runs are also only once, maybe twice a month. At most a member in DX who attends every run and wins nothing would have 1-2 points more a month than a SOAP member who attends every run & wins nothing. I don't think that's a large difference when it comes down to it, and I would say that would be balanced in SOAP by the capacity to lot AF2 without concern for points in SOAP itself.

He was more active in DX then, however, there still weren't that many Attestation runs even then where he was earning 2 points. To be technical the main reason Preda has so many points is that he had all of his AF2 before points were ever implemented, so to my knowledge he hasn't spent any points on AF2 since the system began.

The irony on this is I'm actually going to miss sunday. lol I'm not thinking I'll be able to hide in the back of the room and do a dynamis-xarc run during my step-father's 70th bday banquet. >.> I could try though.

Though, I doubt any changes would happen that fast anyway.

Why not implement the formerly suggested idea of increasing lotting tiers for Shadow items?

ie. A bidding system that is stepwise, the exact same as we do for all other AF, but increasing increments instead of decreasing them.

Set a minimum bid of 20 points, and have people bid in increments of 10 until noone can/wants to go any higher.

I imagine it like this:

"You find a Shadow Ring on Dynamis Lord."
"Tarnak> 30"
"Predaking> 40"
"Eticket> 40"
...etc...
"Garret> Anyone for 50?"
"Garret> OK Shadow Ring 40 points"
Predaking lots 330 for the Shadow Ring.
Eticket lots 476 for the Shadow Ring.
Tarnak lots 972 for the Shadow Ring.
Tarnak obtains the Shadow Ring.
All> Congratulations!

All> OMG THF
Garret> THF 16 points
Tarnak> ...

Just out of curiosity, whats wrong with people having lots points? Wasn't it orginally to prevent lot and run? is a commitment of more then 20 runs for any item really nessicary?

I don't neccesarily think it is neccesary Yuri, but there seemed to be some who felt there needed to be a way to burn off more points, that is why I suggested this idea. I think the AF2 costs are reasonable, but I could see raising the cost of Shadow items, because they are Shadow items & all. I'm fine with the system as it is now though, but was trying to come up with something to answer a concern some voiced.

Nekio, the reason I don't want to go up in value is that it can be confusing, people could end up lotting at the lower value thinking they could, and then not pass properly at the higher ones.

Think of our current system if we said 'Who wants Valor Surcoat for 2 points? Ok for 4? Ok for 8? etc' It is much easier for people to not lot than it is for people to pass once they have lotted.

I realize that's not entirely what you are saying, I assume you meant it would be discussed in /l, however I still find it easier coming down from some value, than to go up from some smaller one.

That works too then, just start the bidding at the max point tier based on the points list. If Preda is leading with 54 points, start the bidding at 50 points, then 40, then 30, 20, etc.

I just see this as an alternative to an all-or-nothing approach.

I like all or nothing approach. However if you've noticed lately i am caring less and less about thief hands. Why? My only reasoning to get them it to help you guys get drops no more no less.

I don't see why some are complaining about 2 circumstances we get 2 points when. This system was MADE BY THE MEMBERS FOR THE MEMBERS. I recall us voting discussing for 1-2months this system before it was implemented.

I'd like to re-state that I see absolutely nothing wrong with the system as it stands now.

Lol I like it already :D

If the system is only designed to prevent lot and run, then it's already doing the job fine.

If the system was meant to reward the most frequent participants, then it may lose some effectiveness in the future as we see more of people with 16 points lotting against people with 40 points as though they were equally deserving.

I now have a better understanding of the system and I see that it was really just intended for the former.
