Has anyone else joined a smaller FC that seemed really welcoming at first, but after a couple of weeks you realized it was mostly several established cliques?
I have been trying to engage with people, but honestly got genuinely burned out by constantly feeling like I have to prove myself or somehow break into these established circles. It feels like the same few people always end up talking to each other, while conversations with newer members just fizzle out.
I also noticed other newer members get ditched after a day or three despite trying to chat people up. My own attempts to engage with them also tend to fall off because the "main people" jump in and turn the conversation between themselves. Looking back, it feels like everyone already has "their person."
I'm a bit bummed because I genuinely thought a lot of them were cool people and that we shared some interests, but it's just been a constant cycle of highs and lows as I kept trying to maintain a presence. It's almost worse than the "no drama" tag on the fc lol. At this point I'm wondering if I'm just beating a dead horse.
Is this the general FC experience, or have I simply found an FC that's not a good fit?
