After starting a new character for the luls and playing through the first part of the game again I got a little sad and I hate how the writers have stripped this world of mystery.

We knew there was eventually going to be a confrontation with Zodiark so that was obvious from the get go. But the way they reduced Hydaelyn to an ancient, who if we are being real and not blinded by fandom, is fairly controversial because the way it was written does make her look like she could be an antogonist. But that is a nuanced subject that has been debated to death.

Then stripped the mystique from the Twelve and just made them constructs created by her that are then destroyed, the ancients have no more mystery and are just aether sensative ppl, the primals are all reduced from DemiGod status to just automatons of aether. Tempering has been solved. The shroud spirits are a big nothing burger as is the void. We even went into the aetherial sea and learned what happens after death! It just strips so much of the mystique and mythos from the world and makes everything mundane and boring.

The most interesting stories and settings are usually filled to the brim with mystery. We should never have met Hydaelyn or the twelve and we definately should not have offed them. The ancients should still be something we don't necessarily understand well. Primals should have been more than puppets and the tempered could have added a lot of danger and lore to the world at large, the threat of the shroud should be real, the void should have remained an other worldly place and not just a dark shard and we definately should never have stepped foot into the afterlife.

Not every question needs an answer. But with each expansion they destroy more and more to the point where the world just seem bland.
