So in World Cup hype, how would you go making a team of eleven out of FFXIV characters? Go wild on heroes, villains, NPCs, monsters.
I think I'd go with a classic 4-4-2 formation, like this:
Goalkeeper: Minfillia.
She's always supporting us from the back, all the way to the very end. That's basically a goalkeeper's job.
Defense: Thancred, Wuk Lamat, Moenbryda, G'raha.
Wuk Lamat and Moenbryda guve us a very tanky defense in center. You can trade in the latter for Gosetsu if you care about the spoilers. On the sides I think both Thancred and G'raha offer versatility with their mastery of different roles - they can be tanky when defending, then switch up to an offensive role to make the transition to attack.
Midfield: Alphinaud, Hien, Y'shtola, Meteor.
Alphinaud and Hien lead the midfield, offering a tactical view, support to the defenders, and even a surprise samurai attack in occasion. Y'shtola gives us grace and intelligence, making magical plays to open up enemy defenses. And of course Meteor is the 10, the Messi, the one who make all the big plays and decides the games on their own when everything else fails.
Offense: Alisaie, Estinien.
Alisae is an agile and quick winger, falling on both sides to open defensive lines and try for a kick. And Estinien is the main striker, with precise kicks like a spear's point and excelling at flying volleys.
