I started FFXIV a few months ago and played the MSQ ever since until I eventually finished it.
On my journey I tried a few different classes, so I can see how they work and feel. I started the game as a Warrior and played that until Level 93. Then I wanted to experience something else and I tried a few damage dealers.
From my experiences I learned:
- I probably would prefer a melee class
- I can’t play a healer on PS5 controller, the switch between selecting other players to heal them and dealing damage to enemies absolutely fucks my brain up and I hated the experienced even though I love being a healer (it’s a shame)
- I enjoy easy unga bunga jobs but with a little room for mastery
- I don’t mind tanking, but I feel a little intimidated by the responsibility, leading the pack and by the tasks I would have to execute in higher tier content
- I enjoy classes with a bit of party support
So in summary I now lean towards Warrior and Reaper, but I’m still insecure. I want to commit to a single job now, so I can build some skill and mastery, but it should be the right one. I’d love to hear some suggestions as well!
Also I’d be genuinely happy if someone could explain to me, how the fuck I’m supposed to heal on a PS5 controller, it’s been such a disgusting experience, I’m almost certain that I did something entirely wrong.
I hate switching targets between my party and enemies, so maybe that’s the issue I have and healing in FFVIX is just not for me.
And about the classes I’m leaning towards - How difficult is tanking as a Warrior in high tier raid content? Especially compared to performing well as a Reaper?
