So this is my seventh forum post, so I think it's finally time to tackle this topic.
One of my friends reposts some of my posts into reddit (I don't particularly care what he does). And the first thing I notice how many replies and discussions happen on reddit while here on the forums its just.... mostly dead silence.
Why is seemingly no one using these forums?
There's many different answers, like the fact that these forums are absolutely ancient and hard to use, but I'm not a web designer so I'm not gonna get into that.
But no, the biggest problem is that we as players have zero visible feedback on our feedback. New features take seemingly forever to implement and as far as we know they weren't even lifted from the forums. So why are devs so adamant in requiring us to use these forums? One could even conspiracy theorize that they want us to keep everything in one place they can safely ignore instead of getting harrased on twitter.
I have a cool solution for this. Create a new segment/stream where devs discuss feedback.
Like let's say once a month, or once in two months... or at least once a patch. Some devs gather around and show some selected forum posts and discuss if the idea is interesting, if it's planned, or if they'll look into it, or (and this is important) straight up say and explain why some features are not gonna be implemented because a) they don't have resources for that b) they don't believe it's gonna help c) they have other things planned.
And I'll straight up say that yoshi-p should not be a part of this segment, he probably wouldn't have time to do this anyway.
So that's my workshop idea, could help revitalize the forums and make people use them more if we actually see that the feedback is not getting just ignored. More importantly I think it would be good for the whole community to get more concrete updates and dicussions outside of live letters.
