As a player who frequently checks online social platforms for ffxiv, the discussion about story skipping has become something of a hot topic. One of the aspects of story skipping is skipping fight design and newer players who don't want to deal with hours upon hours of story and might go into evercold without any idea of what to do might be very confused about basic raid mechanics and the gameplay loop. It is why I am suggesting hall of the novice to become mandatory for any story skip. It explains these mechanics and the gist of how they should be handled effectively. Job rotation & DMG output is another discussion entirely for newer players, but it would be beneficial for the overall player base to have newer players have some sort of idea of how to do things before jumping into evercold.
