So, just finished 7.3, and I realize I still have two full patches to go through still (well, 1 1/2 technically....), but I think it's time we all admit it:
Dawntrail wasn't that bad, and we all just had mildly different expectations given Endwalker.
7.x was always marketed as the 'vacation' expansion, and presented as a kind of...passthrough. You fought gods and goddesses, took down damn near every Ascian thrown at you and more, and even prevented the end of multiple worlds.
Honestly, this was so needed for the WoL.
Say what you will about Wuk Lamat, but I found her to be so endearing. She was bright, exuberant, and always willing to lend a hand, and by the time 7.0 finished I was so happy to call her a friend. And honestly, all the characters were great in their own rights.
But I think over all, I loved Sphene and the Ninth the most. From Endless Sphene to the Queen of Alexandria, and even all of the Ninth....I was so enamoured by this concept of death they had. Of being so terrified of living with the knowledge they'd never see loved ones again, they'd sooner just forget them and continue in ignorance, even as the departed's memories had endless fun in Living Memory.
It's safe to admit that the first part of the expansion was....slow. Rough at times. In fact, I about rage quit more than once with how complicated some of these fights became. But by the second half? Boy, I was hooked in worse than if Valigarmanda itself got to me.
Solution Nine needs housing ASAP.
I have so many more thoughts I could put down, but I don't like making super big posts as they tend to get muddled for me.
So, TLDR: Dawntrail good. Excited for what's next. Yes, yes.
