I finally finished A Realm Reborn, and what a story it has been.
Getting to know the world of Final Fantasy XIV has been an amazing experience. At the beginning, I felt that things moved a bit slowly, but as the plot progressed, I became genuinely invested in the story. I started paying attention to every dialogue and reading every piece of lore I could find. After 102 hours of gameplay, I can honestly say I was completely hooked.
There are still so many mysteries that left me with questions. Who exactly is the figure in the middle of the Ancients' world? What is the true significance of the Crystal Tower? It looks incredibly similar to what appears in the Shadowbringers trailer. Without spoiling anything, can someone simply tell me if there is a connection between them?
The ending also completely surprised me. The apparent death of the Sultana and the massive political upheaval in Ul'dah were shocking. Although, to be fair, I had a feeling things were going to go terribly wrong during that meeting. Teledji Adeledji and his allies were clearly looking for trouble, and seeing him mock the Sultana's death afterward made the whole situation even more infuriating.
I know there is still a long journey ahead of me before reaching Dawntrail, but I am absolutely loving this game so far. Every expansion seems to build upon the last, and I'm excited to see where the story goes next.
The only thing I felt was a little disappointing was the resolution of the Empire's storyline in ARR. It seemed somewhat brief compared to the amount of buildup it received. Still, that final sequence more than made up for it.
Now it's time for me to begin Heavensward. I've heard incredible things about it, and after that ending, I can't wait to see what happens next.
