I was wondering if there has ever been a discussion about the similarities between FFXIV and The Longest Journey.
I found some but I don't know if they are intentional or a coincidence.

Here's my list:
- The Divide: In The Longest Journey the world was once one but it was split in two because of the conflict between Science and Magic. The antagonist wants to reunite the worlds.
- Dragons are aliens: Like Midgardsormr, in The Longest Journey dragons come to our world.
- At the end of The Longest Journey you travel to the Guardian's realm that looks desolate, with a big tower with a big hole where you fight a creature of pure chaos. This similar to the Watcher's Tower in the moon and the pit with Zodiark.
- At the beginning of The Longest Journey you see an old woman in a wood house telling the story you’re about to play, which is similar to the old woman in the Evercold trailer.
