[SPOILER: 5.3] Elidibus.

Definitely the best part of Shadowbringers, and my favorite part of Final Fantasy XIV, is how Elidibus was handled.

Throughout the game, I was always predicting that Elidibus was way too different from the current Ascians we knew. While his goal was always shared with his brethren, his personality and attire stood out from the rest. While the rest were cold and cunning, he was calm and patient. The rest wore black, yet he donned white. They sought to damn the world with darkness, yet he seeks balance between light and dark. He had a duty. To become Him. To be the heart of Zodiark. He fought until the very end because he was the last of the unsundered; he wanted to be the one to keep the legacy of the Ancients alive.

However, due to his nature as a Primal, his memory degrades. He couldn't remember who he swore to, or what he swore. He couldn't even remember Amaurot. Only his core remained. Despite this, knowing that he is suffering from the loss of everyone he held dear and eventually lost from his memory, he continued to carry on his duty, if not by his true form, then as the avatar of Final Fantasy I's Warrior of Light.
(little break because to the edge is an absolute banger and the trial was very fun to go through. my goat emet-selch coming in clutch)

But even with the power of the original Warrior of Light of eld, he was still no match for the Warrior of Darkness. His obsession with the Crystal Exarch's memories of the future was his downfall; he didn't heed the lessons of the past. As such, with the assistance of the Warrior of Darkness, Elidibus fell. All that was left were fragments of him in his Ancient form.

Now, the part that made me wonder why someone left a bowl of onions next to me. He would become Zodiark to save everyone, but still, they cried out in despair. All he wanted was to save and protect his friends, brethren, and family, yet he couldn't in the end.

It is a tragic tale of loss, obsession, and forgotten shards of memories. I was caught so off guard by the writing, and I absolutely love this section of Shadowbringers. I know the game is no stranger to something hitting you different, but for the entire patch is insane. Another reason why I adore this game.

[PLEASE NOTE I MAY HAVE GOTTEN A LOT OF STUFF WRONG. IF THERE'S SOMETHING I GOT OFF, LET ME KNOW IN THE REPLIES!]
