[Spoiler 2.2 I guess?] At what point does the game get a more... active/dynamic?

Hey all,

Big disclaimer: I never played any FF game before. I'm still not sure if FF is for me and I don't mean to disrespect the game at all (or anyone who loves it)!

So I started playing some time ago, learning the controls (I'm on PS5), and the commands and all, how everything works etc. Since this is my first time, I decided to stick to the main scenario quests. Other than the Thaumaturge quest line, I haven't done any side quests at all. I recently joined one of the grand companies, so this is where I'm currently at.

My question is: at what point does the game get a little more active? So far, like 90% of the quests is just "go to this really far place talk to this person and come back". I get it, it's scenario building and all and I like the lore so far (what I could understand of it, that is), but honestly, so far most of my playtime is walking. The Thaumaturge questline is slightly more dynamic, some more interesting combat and stuff, so maybe this is the kind of thing I'm looking for, but it's been a bit... lacklustre.

Again, I like the lore and I get that early game this is important, so I'm asking at what points things get a little more active. Btw, even only doing the main quests, I seem to be over levelled for them. The current 'main scenario quests' available for me are around level 20, and I'm at level 30. Is this normal?

Thanks!
