There *IS* an event dungeon this time with currency. However, the event instance takes only 11 minutes (plus queue time, so plan accordingly), and you most likely won't need to run it multiple times unless you want to get additional furniture - which is very cute, so it is a possibility!
You can queue solo or with a full/partial group friends and also choose to get matched with randoms, and you are graded/awarded currency based on your performance. You need 78 tokens to buy one of everything - the best score will award you with 150 currency, but finishing 4 is worth 130-140, and even just 3 is worth 90.
For a description of the instance itself - there are 5 rounds where you bring ingredients from the edge of the map to the cake stands in the center. The ingredients are on shelves and are divided into categories, and the ones they want you to use will be sparkling (so you don't need to think too hard about it, just look for the glows). As soon as you complete a cake, the game will move straight to the next one, so you can save a couple of seconds by running back out to the edge while the announcer is talking.
There are also mammots to dodge/stun - getting hit by their cone will freeze you for 15 seconds, so try to avoid this as much as you can. One "strategy" is to have one person run around aggroing all of them and keeping them away from the center/ingredient stands, I don't think that's really necessary though.
I was able to speed through everything on an alt within 17 minutes. There is a little bit of running around Old Gridania talking to people as well, but it's pretty fast and you can skip through the dialogue/cutscenes.
All of the rewards are bought from the House Valentione Maid in the little stand just outside of the Amphitheater (10, 8). There are 7 pieces of glamour (Comfy/Cozy Valentione sets), 3 orchestrions, and 5 interior housing items - along with the usual 2 fireworks items from previous years.
There are no follow-up quests, but you can keep running the instance to get more tokens if you didn't manage to get enough the first time or want to get extra furniture.
