The Hatching-tide event will be ending on Monday, April 6th at 8am PDT / 11am EDT / 3pm GMT - about 23 and a half hours from now.
Don't miss out on getting your free Eyeglasses/Facial-slot Eyeglasses, indoor housing decorations, and event achievement! You will need to be level 15 to start the event. The quest is Of Weeds and Whimsy, at the Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre in Old Gridania (10, 9).
There *IS* a repeatable solo mini-game with currency. Each run of the instance takes about 3 minutes. Since it is a solo activity, you don't have to worry about queues. Plus the usual running around New and Old Gridania talking to NPCs.
It took me about 20 minutes to complete the quest/game, you can probably skip through it faster. I think it took additional 20 minutes to get all the tokens I needed from the game. I don't have much advice for getting a high score in the mini-game - it is somewhat luck-based. If anyone would like to give tips below, feel free!
You'll get 1 of the glasses and 1 facial glasses as an event reward, and the rest of the rewards are purchased from the Dreamer NPC in the quest area (10.2, 9.1). They sell 5 eyeglasses as well as an additional set of 5 eyeglasses for the facial slot, and 6 interior housing items - along with the usual fireworks items from previous years.
There are no follow-up quests. Depending on your MSQ progress, there are also some familiar faces visiting the event area if you look around for them.
