Points & Multiple Characters

So leaning towards 1 point per toon or 1 point per person? I see different concepts.

here was my dilemma,

I dont play 2 characters at once in Dynamis unless specifically asked to.
I want all my points to go to Bootstraps, but sometimes I am asked to go as blackmage for certain reasons, but I dont want to lot any Blackmage AF2. So I have 2 characters, but only 1 I care about. Do I still have to split my points by which character was brought to the dynamis even though I was asked by the run leader to bring that job?

No Ash. Definitely saying that whichever toon you bring you can decide which one to apply points to.

You just couldn't bring both Ashmus & Bootstraps at the same time & give Bootstraps 2 points for that run.

As long as you get no more than 2 pt a week, I see no problem being whatever character and lotting as whoever. The idea of getting 4 pt, or more, sending different characters to different runs, or on both soap and dx on different characters would be a problem, but if that's not allowed, no worries.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused.

It says in points list, that our second character can't obtain any af or 100's through points... But what if I take zexxan on a run (because we might need a whm or something), and I wanted to lot 100's with elysabeth. Or maybe in the future, if I have amassed a bunch of points, and I want to lot af2 for zexxan. If I'm using my points, does it matter which character it goes to?

Hmm... I would think it would make more sense having a single point pool for those who may use multiple accounts but then allowing them to lot AF2 for either of their accounts as they see fit? So long as it is the same person using them.

Otherwise people could basically 'give' their points away, if that makes sense.

Trying to determine what is balanced & fair.

This would allow some people to earn points at twice the normal rate for use by one character. Anyone attending both DX and Soap on the same day would gain a large advantage in lotting. They may be doing double the work and be entitled to claiming points for both, but the points should not both be usable for a single character. I talked about this in one of my posts here. It would be neither balanced nor fair.

Accumulating by person seems harder to track as well. Some people share accounts (roommates, spouses, etc.), and trying to keep track of whose points go where could get tricky. Even when most associations will be known, some will not.

I believe we should keep the points by character as they are now. Any character should be able to lot for anything they have the points/prerequisites for, regardless of who is controlling the character. Earned points should not be able to be traded between characters. However, a point can be earned for a different character as long as the other character is not otherwise earning a point that day.

I think these simple rules handle all the cases we're discussing. No characters unfairly gets double points, but people who bring other characters can still earn a point for the character they want it to go to. There's no worry about who owns which characters, or which characters can lot and which can't. People who attend both runs still get both points they earned, they just don't go to one character and upset the lotting balance.

Personally I think we should pretend dual-boxing doesn't even exist, and every character who attends a run gets a point for that character, and every character who attends a run can use their points to lot AF for themselves.

Whatever the rule you guys finally decide on, I'll follow it.

If you'd rather my other character not be able to lot anything, that's fine. I'll just bring Elysabeth if I want lot something, or bring Zexxan if I feel like saving points (and might get a chance at a free lot or something).

Rest assured, if I'm somehow getting more points than I should, I'll definitely tell a leader about it, because I don't want to take advantage of DynamisX in any way.

If you're helping an LS, you're helping an LS. I have multiple jobs at 75 I don't mind changing to help depending on needs, if someone has multiple characters at 75, I think it's great if they go as what people need.

If you're helping as another character in whatever way, dual boxing, or just playing the job needed, I don't see a problem the point going to the character you want to play, rather than the one you're asked to play. Being understanding to all, means all are understanding to you.

The only real abuse I see is if someone was running multiple characters through multiple dynamis and all the points going to one person. I mean if I attend every run and have say 6 points, and someone else has 8, 10, 12, or 3.1415926 for running multiple characters though, that would be an issue.

Why not just cap the maximum points at whichever DX can possible get for the week.

If DX does a glacier clear and a town maximum would be 3. regardeless the amount of dynamis which someone attends, or whichever account they attend on. All points should be allocated to ones main accout, and should never exceed the amount that DX offers for that week.

Points should be usable wherever the player who earned them chooses. However nobody should be allowed to obtain more points then what DX offers in a single week.

Hmmm. So maybe the note below should read that these characters cannot earn points in addition to the main characters if both attend.

Yuriku - we do that already.
