I have been farming the new scouting top from Mistwake for almost two days of play now and have probably put in close to 50 runs now (yes I have fallen victim to sunken cost fallacy, yes I have nothing better to do on my winter break). I want it for a glam and didn't want to wait potentially months to get it through passive expert roulettes and having to always run Viper/Ninja (for need safety) on those vs all of the jobs I have at 100.
For gear that is NOT DYEABLE and has mediocre ilvl it should not be this torturous. They advertise the new dungeon gear every patch so they should know that people would want to farm it for glam. I don't think they intentionally made getting gear from a casual story dungeon for babies a miserable grind, they just did not put enough thought into the loot tables and the player experience.
The job you go into the dungeon with has NO effect on the loot chance so if you even if there's a party with no Monks or Samurai you might get striking gear for multiple previous chest slots. The chest piece specifically can only drop from two of the dungeon chests where they share slots with the accessories that can already drop from all of the hallway chests. So for every 15 minute dungeon run you have one 4% chance and one 7% chance to get a given item. I've had better times getting a pesky gem in monster hunter because at least there you can influence RNG in small ways. I've also seen EVERY OTHER FREAKING CHEST PIECE MULTIPLE TIMES adding to the frustration. There should be at least one loot slot in the final chest that only drops for jobs in the duty too.
This is not a prestigious item, it shouldn't be rarer to see than a freaking EX whistle. Since I have run this godforsaken dungeon 50 times this also means I have spoent as much time it would take in duty (excluding wipes and set up) as it would get to a 2 totem EX whistle through that pity system. Please make it so that completing a dungeon gets you a token you can use to buy any piece of gear you want. It should legit cost only 20 runs at most. If people want to complain about clutter it can be an optional personal chest or something.
And this is a dungeon ON CONTENT with instant queues, farming older dungeons can be even worse
