Newbie question about trials

I picked up the Free Trial on Switch 2 after loving FFX and Remake and Rebirth. But it's also my first ever multiplayer and typing is a pain on Switch docked, so I've been mostly treating it as a solo game.

But after I got the first credits and continued towards Heavensward, I had to do more and more 8 player trials.

My approach to every game I play has always been spoiler free and I just play. I don't Google tactics, secrets etc. If I get super stuck I \*might\* look up how to do a puzzle (looking at you FFX) but that's it.

I'm playing as a Paladin. I get through 4-player dungeon's just fine. I did read my description and know to keep Iron Will on. I even got through the Crystal Towers fine. Mostly by running along but I only died once.

From my first 8 player trial I learned to keep my Iron Will off. Because I was told in fight to keep it off if the other tank has it on.

So now I wait a second in the beginning and if the other tank turns it on I leave mine off and just fight beside them. In a couple trials the other person hasn't turned theirs on and then I turn mine and that's been fine too. I haven't died once in an 8 player trial so far.

That brings me to Bismarck. What the fuck was that. The whole party wiped. We managed in the end, but I still have no idea what was actually happening in that fight.

It was a genuinely sucky experience and now I'm wondering (at about 100h in lol) if I should read up on trials in advance so that I actually know what to expect going in? Or is it ok to keep going in blind and possibly wiping the entire party?
