Housing is not only one of the most sought after content in the game, but it's also one of the most infuriating systems currently in Final Fantasy XIV.
Before I rant: I was there. I spent 12 hours clicking on a placard several times. No, that wasn't better than lottery. Any anger I currently may have for lottery is agnostic to the fact that placard clicking was worse. We good? Alright.
Today I got a notice that the Estate my sister owns, and that I've been a tenant of for over 5 years is scheduled to be demolished. Why? Because my sister has been crazy busy and just hasn't had the time to log in... despite the fact that I log in every single day and go into the house every single day. Why?? Why can't I reset the timer as a 5 year-long tenant? Oh, is that not enough to prove we're committed to the lot? Why is demolition even a thing? I know the easy community answer will be that this is a leash to hold people's sub, but... freaking really?? This is our home in XIV. You're telling me it's nothing more than a carrot being held over our heads?
My friend has been trying to get a Medium house for... almost three years. He keeps biding and biding and biding and biding and all he ever gets is "oops, better luck next time." No pity system, no points system, nothing. Meanwhile, entire wards are owned by single individuals who BOAST about being able to do this. How is this a thing? How did it get to this point? How was it allowed to get to this point?
So: Is it hard getting a house? No. small house are always available, and unless you want a very specific location, you can get a small pretty much immediately. So why are there so few Mediums and Mansions?? You can find smalls with not a single bid and Mediums/Mansions with over 50 or 100 bids on the same ward. Did no one figure out people would wanna upgrade? The house my sister won had about 60 bids, and we got lucky... yeah, the same one under threat of demolishing now.
And here's my main issue: TALK TO US
Even if a solution is not immediately on the way, please: TALK TO US. Let us know what's going on, and that you're listening.
