The most honest feedback. Sorry to the community team, but I think it is important to tell the truth.
1. Is it really exciting to see or meet developers in person? Not really any different to watching them on stream. At least when the closest you get is merely taking a picture with them if you happen to be so lucky to win a raffle. It'd be unlikely they could do much more given the number of people there though.
2. Are the events exciting? They all looked meh to me. You really need to go there with friends such as a static and use the events to fool around and compete with eachother, otherwise it's just gonna be meh. What motivates me to do boring activities in the game is a mount reward so maybe that would have got me to do things. I think the only one that would be fun solo is the fishing one.
3. Was the Development Panel on sound effects interesting? No. I can see a lot of effort was put into making sound effects an interesting subject, and there were people that were interested in it, but I suspect this was a tiny, tiny minority of people who would consider it as a career or something that they do. Nevertheless, it's useful to have the discussion out there for future viewing if people are interested in it in the future. We clapped when prompted but that's just being polite; it doesn't mean it was interesting.
4. Was the Communty Panel interesting? Yes. But again plenty of people figured it was skippable to do the other stuff there, like do events or eat.
5. Was the Live Letter from the Producer interesting? No. A lot of people came for that event after the rest of the day (excluding Keynote) was kinda empty due to people doing the other activities. Obviously they came for Yoshi-P who is a draw. Throughout the liveletter, this room full of people was just everyone chatting and drowning out what was being said. They weren't even watching the live letter. But whenever we were asked if we were following and found it interesting, we clapped anyways. But no, we weren't interested in watching someone play Beastmaster for over an hour. We didn't really get much new information, in all honesty. A live letter is only interesting if it covers multiple topics like the Keynote did, where everyone was quiet.
6. Was the Piano Concert good? Keiko is very good at what they do. But that doesn't mean that doing it entirely solo with a single instrument is good. Nobody was hardly waving their glowsticks during the music like with the Primals, and that's telling. We all clapped at the end out of respect, but that doesn't mean a solo with a single instrument is good. The music is good when it includes the other aspects, vocals and instruments that are normally part of the respective tracks.
7. Is the PvP tournament interesting? I think that PvP is fun to watch because it's dynamic and never the same. But I think the problem is that there isn't an endpoint with PvP, so it's easy to just dismiss it. When you watch something on Netflix, you know it has seasons and that you won't be overloaded with it, but with PvP, you could spectate forever due to the matches always being slightly different, but to what end? For that reason, it's the easiest one to skip over or use as an opportunity to do other activities.
8. Was Naoki's Room Interesting? Yes. Not going to be the biggest draw, but anything involving Yoshi-P typically is a big draw regardless.
9. Is the Glamour Walk worthwhile? Yes, it's fun to watch in person and it is clearly a big reason for many people wanting to go, or a part of fun they express with their friends dressing up as characters together.
10. Is the Primals good? Obviously yes, and it is the one surefire thing that makes the FanFest ticket worth it if nothing else does. It's absolutely the main event and was really good as usual. Just like how The Primals save content that is otherwise not good without the music, they also save FanFest in the event people didn't enjoy everything else there.
Overall, was FanFest worth the ticket price? Yes, for the Primals alone. Was it worth me going to a different country and the large amount of money I spent doing so in preparation like travel, food, hotels, bags and travel equipment, significant money loss due to travel delays and cancellations in Germany and so on? No, not without going there with others. If I go again, it'll probably be when it's in my own country so I don't need to travel far nor book multiple hotels, and I'll definitely tone down my prep significantly due to not expecting much from the event other than the Primals.
