Hello! I started playing this game a few months ago, but have not been playing recently due to a horrible situation. I'd love to continue playing, but I am very worried about running into certain individuals. I don't wanna get into too much detail now, but to give you an idea of what happened: there was tons of overnight drama within the only FC I've ever joined. Drama occured between the leader and other high rank members (admins and whatnot), splitting the FC's clique into two sides. I was one of the few members who didn't side with either of the divided cliques, and I have been hunted down, stalked and harassed numerous times by one of the cliques in an attempt to "join them", which sparked further drama when I denied joining their side multiple times. I remained in the FC for a little while after the drama to see if there was any sign of salvation for it, but the situation was far from any kind of salvation. I have now left the FC and am taking a short break from the game while I think on what to do.
My original idea was to unfriend and mute + blacklist everyone from the FC, and then change my character's name and transfer her to a new data center and home world; the latter is something I have already been planning to do for a while. However, I'm concerned this will not be enough to sever the ties and connections I have (or had?) to these people. I'm afraid they will still be able to see me on their friends list.
Another option I've considered is, making a new character. But is it really worth it just for the sake of feeling safe? I've already poured so many hours into my main character. I have several jobs I have maxed out (including Blue Mage at level cap), rare items (such as mounts, pets, completed relic weapons, glams, etc.), and even personal housing. Losing all of this progress would be so saddening.
Do note that, while I have not severed my ties with these people in-game, I have severed my ties with them on Discord, which is, like with most FCs nowadays, where a lot of our communication happened. I've unfriended + blocked everyone from that FC on there. I suppose that is a good start, but I'm just not sure what to do now in-game with the friends list system being one-sided.
