Is It Just Me, Or Is This Game Great At Teaching People Empathy?

Hey guys, total noob here. I only started this game 2 months ago. I've been playing it quite a bit and I'm about 2 hours into Stormblood MSQ. And I have to say, I'm loving hearing all the different perspectives of the people. To be fair these are pretty boring fetch quests but I really like the little stories contained within them.

It actually gave me a feeling back to when I first played FFX (which was my first RPG ever), and how my mind was literally blown by such different cultures and how different characters saw the world, like the differences in how Wakka and Seymour viewed things, for example. I'm almost 30 now but I'm still blown away by FF's storytelling and I think the storytelling in this game and all the little details are so wonderful.

Here's my most recent example. I just did a small MSQ where a snake trainer lady asked me to go get 5 new recruits. Not gonna lie, at first I was a little taken back by her appearance and how she spoke, I think I even started to wonder if this character is evil. Anyways, each recruit had their own reasons for signing up for the resistance. Then when I came back, she told me that she goes hard on trainees because Imperials won't hold back, and that it's a thankless job, but the recruits' survival is thanks enough. That is something a real battle-hardened and kindhearted veteran would say, and at the same time exposed my own prejudice based on appearance alone... just like how the Garleans might be prejudiced against Ala Mhigans.

Anyway long story short I was quite impressed by that little bit of storytelling, and I'm really glad I picked up this game and survived through the 100 quests after Ultima Weapon to get here. I'm really loving the gameplay as well - I've installed ACT, read the Balance guides and I'm hoping to do all the savage content once I've caught up to the main story.

p.s one another thing that I was really impressed by, is how they used music to do a really good storytelling. I immediately noticed that the Garlean imperial anthem is same tune as Rhalgr's Reach main theme, and the implication that Garleans have stolen the people's music to really crush their hopes (at least I'm assuming that's the case, otherwise it would be a really confusing and almost disrespectful choice of music).
