I will start by saying I am quite new to FF14, only having played about a month so far. I really have tried to get into it, and I think ive succeeded in terms of enjoying the combat style and the combat itself (I am a support, more specifically a Scholar). The main issue I keep facing is I come from MMOs where you don't just spam dps spells when your not healing. You have control spells, ally buffs, things to do that involve support.
But the more I play the more it feels like healer is just a DPS that sometimes clicks Adlo. In my honest opinion if i wanted to spam attack spells and deal with rotations I would have just played a DPS. I find my enjoyment in reading attacks, shielding, healing, and buffing. But even when I do buff it rarely rewards planning its just smacking a button on cooldown... I don't know if maybe it changes later? But I have heard that the DPS checks require all 4 in a dungeon to be using DPS efficiently.
Will this ever change once I get hogher level (im at 60)? Am I better off just finding a different game that suits me better? If it helps my style of healing was born from TERA back when that was running.
I will add any information I can if it will help. I do really enjoy the game style and world, and even the gameplay to a point, but lately I havent played much at all because I just dread reaching the point where the DPS checks start in and start making things less enjoyable for me.
