 | So, I've been playing as an Au Ra since I started playing FFXIV over 5 years ago and one of the reasons why I chose so is because they are the closest playable race to dinosaurs. I'm quite the dinosaur fanatic so maybe it's just me but there're a few reasons why we might be dinosaurs. Firstly, dinosaurs are not cold-blooded. It should be well know fact by now that birds are dinosaurs, and birds are warm-blooded. Dinosaurs are sort of in between crocodiles and birds, closer to birds, and evidence suggest that their warm-bloodedness is somewhere in between too. So it's no far stretch to imagine a dinosaur species could evolve a body temperature similar to mammals. Secondly, the lore states that Auri horns are basically our ears, implying that they might be hollow and aid with hearing and vocalization. Many species of the dinosaur group hadrosaurs, of which Parasaurolophus is part of, have crests on their heads that do just that. The many different species of hadrosaurs also comes in many different shapes, some of which resemble Auri horns. As such, we might have evolved from a close relative of hadrosaurs. Lastly, scales, hair and feathers are made from the same thing, keratin, and there is a 'scaly' mammal, the pangolin. Birds also have both feathers and scales (on their feet) at the same time, so it could explain why Au Ra have both hair and scales. So to sum it up, we Au Ra are dinosaurs. Yes Yes.
