Ive been playing on-off for the last two years now and am currently at the end of HW (~500h). Right now Ive returned because I wanted to grind both the SCH and WHM zodiacs and thus havent really engaged in any social stuff in a while. Back in the day when I finished ARR I had a FC, but after being away for longer than 3months I just told them to kick me.
Tldr: I dont approach people at all.
Now, I just used my free fantasia to go from fem AuRa to male Lala, because it fits the vibe Im going for my WoL simply better and I LOVE all Lalafell animations, emotes, etc.
All in all Im having a blast playing right now, IF not for all these weird tells Ive been receiving. Ive been back for not even a week, yet Ive counted 5times where someone approached me out of the blue calling me 'Sugar', Handsome', or something similar. I mean, Im flattered that they like my appearance, but being called these things is just weird imo. I know theyd most likely just wanted to advertise their club or other services, but that makes this whole situation EVEN weirder.
Dont get me wrong, Im smart enough to not engage with those people, but considering I never got these kind of tells as my AuRa even when I was afking in Limsa makes me wonder if these people approached me BECAUSE I am a Lalafell right now.
Is this a thing, or am I just having bad luck?
