I havent played past the lvl 70 quests, nor did I even meet Alphinaud yet, but after being happy to reunite with Alisaie (shes my favorite Scion afterall), I was super ready to get the band back together and to save Norvrandt. That happiness lasted maybe 5 minutes before the actual reality the people in Amh Araeng live in settled in.
Chosing suicide through their poisoned favorite food is beyond fucked up, but at the same time... I get it. What really broke me though was Tesleens death. The tonal shift compared to Stormblood is almost terrifying. Everything feels way more real, as if they took out the fantasy out of final fantasy.
Anyways, I think I get it now why people like ShB so much. So far it feels denser and more gutwrenching than anything before it.
Only thing that annoys me is that I watched the trailer. Would have prefered not knowing about Minfilias return, but thats on me I guess.
Small edit: the soundtrack is incredible too
