The Maker's Ruin is a classic track. First used for phase one of the Ultima Weapon, and soon after co-opted as a theme for our WOL, it's been heard since in various places from 2.0 to 6.0.
We've seen indications that the dev team has been preparing to replace some of the stock tracks like the widely loathed Machinations, what with one of the new OSTs in 7.3 having an internal filename of keikaku2 (Machinations is titled keikaku). I think a Canticle equivalent was present in 7.4 as well.
So how would you feel about the same happening with the WoL's theme? On the one hand one could say it's entirely unnecessary and that the motif adequately serves it's purpose and would just end up being change for the sake of change. On the other, having a new theme to represent the WoL specifically for the new 'Godless Realms' saga seems like a fitting musical choice to further emphasize a new era for FFXIV going forward.
