how prepared do i need to be to try extremes?

hello! so i've played for a while and am now at level cap for the first time. my main jobs (drk and rpr) have full heavyweight gear and a couple unaugmented bygone brass pieces (second ring and weapon). i've been curious about extremes for a while, and have been wanting to give it a try. in particular, i really like the look of the wings and the weapons from the necron extreme, so i'd maybe try that one. i try to watch guides and i can retain some of the information but it can kind of get hard to retain everything/have everything memorized. am i expected to have it completely memorized, or just a general idea that can get more fleshed out as i run it? i just have some real anxiety about being bad enough that i'm dragging my group down/in danger of getting kicked. i also play with a controller, so i often cannot communicate at all during combat. i know my rotation on my main jobs pretty well (i've been farming m12n a lot recently, and on my main jobs i can practically clear it with my eyes closed). i have pretty severe social anxiety, so i just want to make sure i am the appropriate level of prepared if i find a party finder that's for a fresh run, as i've never joined one and don't know the general etiquette and the expectation of preparedness/time commitment/gear and the difficulty difference between extremes and normal level content. i play on aether, also. any advice would be much appreciated!
