How is Machinist?

Hi guys, new player here I'm currently leveling my Machinist after trying out multiple jobs and found out Machinist is more enjoyable. How is the class for endgame? I have been seeing people complain about Machinist having low dps while at the same time doesn't provide buffs like Bard and Dancer
