I’m a sprout playing Black Mage, and I’ve been trying to improve because I really want to become a better DPS.
I’m currently in Endwalker and have mostly been focusing on the MSQ, but I want to start doing more content with other people. The problem is, I get really embarrassed whenever I die in trials, even if I’ve watched guides beforehand. I just feel like I'm not able to really utilize my rotation, among other things.
I’ve been reading and watching a lot of Black Mage rotation guides, but I feel like they all explain things a little differently. I understand the basics of the Fire/Ice cycle, but I’m honestly still confused about things like Triplecast, Swiftcast, etc and when I should be using it. It sounds stupid but I'd rather ask from experienced players than figuring it out on my own
Whenever I play with other people, I also feel like I’m always underperforming, and I genuinely want to improve. I’m not looking to be perfect, I just want to become a solid Black Mage and not feel like I’m holding my party back.
So… where should I start? Are there any guides, creators, or resources that you’d recommend for someone who’s still learning? Or do you have any general advice that helped you improve?
Please don’t roast me too hard . I’m genuinely trying to get better, and I’d really appreciate any help. Thanks so much!
