I need help with this ongoing lag issue; it only affects FFXIV.
I have FIOS 1GB upload/download in NYC, and I'm experiencing a problem where my game randomly freezes/pauses for a few seconds, other players freeze, attacks don't register, and macros don't work, etc. This has never happened before (since 1.0, btw). I initially thought it might be an issue with NTT nodes, Comcast, or the Chicago node, or whatever, only a temporary issue. However, this problem has persisted for about two weeks now, and only FFXIV is affected.
I've tried rebooting my router and MDU, but nothing seems to work. The only workaround that seems to be working is using a VPN(NordVPN) to California/San Francisco. The game is barely playable, as the ping is terrible, around 180; some of the game mechanics just kill me, even if I'm at the safe spot.
My internet speed as of today; speedtest.net is 4ms 945/860, and fast.com is 5ms 870/880. All other games are fine, with pings between 20-70ms.
Does anyone know what's going on?
