As a result, people who died and were raised were then more likely to die to future raidwides/mechanics.
Back then I'd raise people and then put a stoneskin on them (RIP) to increase the odds they'd survive the next minute so the debuff could fall off.
I don't remember exactly when it was changed, early-HW perhaps, but it certainly added some difficulty.
Also back then you weren't immune to damage for a few seconds after being raised. That was added in Stormblood, if memory serves. So you could get raised only to immediately be slammed by a meteor and fall over again.
