There were no real twists and turns in the Fisherman's Guild storyline but that was fine. It was really nice to see the focus on how angling tends to spawn a lot of rumors and local myths. Seeing some discussion on how different catches are used, their significance in various regions and prestige made it feel more considered than just another exp bar to fill like most MMOs. Plus I really like the concept of dunefishing, skyfishing, cloudfishing etc. In execution it's the same but the devs liked fishing enough to be a little more fantastical about it. I wish we could see fish moving through parts of the skybox but mention on it's own will suffice. It was also nice to see a high ranking Maelstrom official acknowledge the offerings of a luxury ship and that he was willing to look the other way for some fun. A lot of games don't show military or police function characters outside of a corrupt or by the books binary, so I appreciated that it acknowledges that seafarers have their little cultural rituals that conflict with the letter of the law. The Sisipu and Wawalago back and forth probably made a majority of the enjoyment for me as they tend to be relentless without being malicious. Feels very Waldorf and Statler as a dynamic while getting the bonus of random fisher jargon littered in. submitted by /u/Chimugen [link] [comments] |
