| Okay, before we get the announcement, my guess at the new jobs. Complete with BEAUTIFUL illustrations. * Tank - Ice Sentinel based on Dissidia NT Snow, with two "Guards" as weapons. Either Druidy or Chaos/Bestial Morph vibes, maybe both, but very naturalistic to contrast with the DPS job, and higher-magic to contrast with Warrior. * DPS - Fire-y Valkyrie/Hellwing based largely on Brynhildr, with a cannon-crossbow that can split into two guns (ala Yuna, Sazh, Shemhazai) for bursts (to reflect FFXIII's unique "transformer summons/convertible weapon" conceit). May be heavily Faris/Sky Pirate themed instead of a Valkyrie, may even be a ranged Rune/Mystic Knight, since after we got only a lightly Eiko-coded Pictomancer I am not expecting BOTH jobs to be aesthetically based on FFXIII.Reasons why FFXIII will be this expansion's FF6 (SB)/FF4 (EW)/FF9 (DT) - it is the most Norse-themed of the games. It has more novel archetypes to pull from for new jobs than FFVII (although, this alt-art of Brynhildr does encourage perhaps some Vincent Valentine being rolled into the job). It will synergize with the new interface and more actiony overhaul. Reasons why fire/ice duality: Dawntrail was an "electric" themed expansion (Viper has a speedy, zappy aesthetic) with a skewed-opposite element job to pair with it (Pictomancer, i.e. "water" job). This is the ice expansion and fire/ice are similarly skew-opposite on XIII's elemental wheel, leaving earth/air for the VIII/XI shard expansion (we have reasons to believe those are inundated in earth and air aether). We have a fire, lightning, holy, and dark tank: ice tank makes the most sense for a totally unique niche. Reasons why weapons: the EW shirt tease revealed both jobs at the same time. Two shields+two guns/cannon are evident in Rhitatyn. We already have a magiteky job in Gunbreaker so I don't see another tank using Garlean magitek. Although we aren't sure what Yoshi-P heard at NA Fanfest, what evidence we do have suggests "crossbow" was one of the weapons shouted out. And if a second main tank isn't the time to introduce big dual-shields, I don't know when else they would have the opportunity. Reasons why characters: G'Raha lacks a clear job identity so far, we have too many mages and no tank among the Scions, and he already has the crystallization thing going for him to parallel Snow as the closest archetype we have among the main cast. Also Jonathon Bailey is a huge selling point for the game right now. Derplander get the ranged job because it is the bigger rule-of-cool between the two, and serves as a nod to Yuna ushering in a new era of FF. I could absolutely be wrong, that's why we call this a prediction, folks. But it's my final bet. submitted by /u/TemporaryCool5182 [link] [comments] |
