Hey, I wanted to ask if you've had similar experiences and what can be done about it...
After much hesitation, I plucked up the courage today and wrote to the SE support team.
My request was to delete my friends list, especially on the other side. Because – for whatever reason – the friends list in FFXIV works different to any other game on this earth.
It works like this:
You can only add someone if they accept your request, thats fine.
But if you delete that person, you still remain on their friends list and there's nothing you can do about it. It doesn't matter if that person harasses you, stalks you, or whatever else in the future.
My personal reason was that I know quite a lot of people because I was public for a while (Stuff like streaming etc.) and so I got many friend requests in that time. But that's in the past now, and I'd like to enjoy my game in peace, but I can't because people keep recognizing me and remember me of a time I don't wanna think about anymore. Even a name and server change can't help. I've developed a mild anxiety disorder and hardly dare to port to cities anymore.
Well, unfortunately, the response from support was that the GM team can't do it “technically,” they're sorry, and I should go to the forum and give feedback.
But honestly? Who believes that? I know this issue is certainly not new, so a forum post is unnecessary, and reasons like “technically not possible” are the ultimate farce anyway.
I don't want to blame the support... I also replied and told them that such answers are sad. Because this is only about “being allowed” and nothing technical.
And with a problem like that, you should pass it on directly and not ask me to write an empty post somewhere, where I don't get help. Because I need that help now, not in the future maybe.
That makes me sad, I don't think I can continue playing the game like this, even though I would like to.
Have you experienced something similar, and do you know if there is anything else that can be done?
