Having only just started playing and finished HW I was able to pick what kind of character Emmanellain was from the get go. The foppish, cowardly and self-important younger brother. But as the story went on I warmed up to him of course, but mostly because I sort of relate to his character. I've always had issues with self-worth and confidence, and saw the same in his character, the way he acted and reacted to all the things going on around him, the need to be not the SOURCE of the issue at hand, it felt very familiar. His scene where he asks to take part in the grand melee was also quite stirring, trying to become better through his own actions and taking accountability for them too. While characters such as Ysayle and Haurchefant (no I did NOT enjoy the cutscene) leave far larger impressions on me, I find myself looking back and seeing Emmanellain as a far more lasting impression than important or grandiose, and I enjoyed his character arc extremely.
