My wife and me are about to wrap up Heavensward at level 65 (Patch 3.4 Soul Surrender).
One of the main things that stood out for me from this expansion is how lifeless, boring and unimaginative the Heavensward zones feel to me.
To me it feel like the zones are large just for the sake of being large. Perhaps they thought hey there is flying now so we make the zones huge to make flying more a "thing".
ARR zones feel like a living connecting world with lots of things going on and lots of small details when you look for it that (to me) shows that they made an (human) effort creating the layout and make it feel like a world where things are happening and people are living.
HW zones in contrast feels to me like they used a random landscape generator and the output it spit out is directly used in the final game. Yes the zones are huge but like 60%+ of the zone there is nothing going on besides the copy/paste trees, bunch of rocks and a couple mobs.
Which makes me wonder will the zones post HW expansion be any better, more ARR like? (no spoilers please!)
