As a Vietnamese player, I always thought it was really cool that there is a Vietnam equivalent in the FFXIV universe. It's so rare for us to see representation so seeing it in my favorite game means a lot.
However, after completing the 2026 Make It Rain quest, I should've been happy to see more Nagxian content but was only struck with disappointment. The newest Nagxian NPC has a Japanese inspired name (and her otters do too?) And then I realized that ALL the named Nagxians we have seen have Japanese names. Ajisai, Atori, and Kyosu.
I know at this point it isn't a new issue but it's so strange to have items like Ao Dai and Banh Xeo in the game and also have only Japanese named characters come from the same place. It can't be that difficult to give some characters Vietnamese names, could it? What would we lose by having a little more diversity in character naming?
