My (Aunt) Tia Carmen died a few years ago at the age of almost 90 and I wasn't able to see her to say goodbye. It was really hard as she was the matriarch of our family.
She was one of the biggest constants in my life, her food, her "ponchos" she would make out of dollar store blankets and crochet. Her stories of when she ran a local restaurant in my hometown that people to this day still talk about and miss.
She was a incredible dancer and danced on the very last day she was alive. The moment you put on music she was dancing. She taught dance for over 30 years while she was still cooking, still loving her grumpy old husband.
She was the reason my father's family was able to move to Canada from Chile, she was the first one to come here and start a life and there are so many of us here living in a pretty great place thanks to her.
Doing this questline felt like a goodbye to my Tia Carmen, to reflect on her legacy and how she loved to share everything she had in her food and her love.
One of her favourite songs to listen to was "La Vida Es Un Carnaval" by Celia Cruz.
