When opening the context menu on a piece of gear, there are two particular options which, I think, are unclear in function and so similarly worded as to cause confusion as to which function each performs. These are Extract Materia and Retrieve Materia.
Please refer to the below screenshot of the tutorial for such which illustrates the menu items in question:
The intended function of the two menu items is as follows:
Extract Materia
When the Spiritbond for the associated gear piece is at 100%, reset the Spiritbond meter to 1% and acquire a randomised Materia item of a corresponding type and grade according to the gear.
Retrieve Materia
When the associated gear piece has one or more Materia melded to it, attempt to remove the Materia from the gear and place it back in the inventory. There is a % chance of success, which if failed, destroys the Materia entirely.
I think the words used here, "Extract" and "Retrieve", have similar enough meanings such that they could be applicable to either function equally. I believe these menu items could be re-labeled to more clearly communicate the function they provide.
Here are some suggestions I have:
Extract Materia
Retrieve Materia
These suggestions all emphasise the difference between the Materia being newly created without affecting the existing Materia in the former case, or being already melded to the gear in the latter case.
Additionally, while not subject to the above noted clarity issue, I would also suggest updating the label for the "Meld" menu item in a similar fashion, such as in

Extract Materia
- Extract New Materia
- Generate New Materia
- Convert New Materia
- Convert Spiritbond into Materia <-- this one is my personal preference!
Retrieve Materia
- Unmeld Materia
- Retrieve Melded Materia <-- this one is my personal preference!
- Remove Melded Materia
- Restore Melded Materia
