I would really like Square Enix to reconsider the lack of account/store region migration for FFXIV.
I created my account while living in the US but moved to Japan awhile after. Many years ago, I asked if I could swap my store region and was met with "create a new account" which is not a realistic solution. As such, for years now, my account has been locked to the US region, so I am forced to pay in USD even though I live in Japan. With the exchange rate, this has become increasingly unreasonable.
As I mentioned already, the usual answer from support seems to be “create a new account,” but that is not a real solution for long-term players. It would mean losing years of purchases, characters, mounts, optional items, achievements, subscription history, and account progress - not to mention your house, if you have one along with all pre-order items.
I understand why Square Enix may not want people freely switching regions to chase lower prices, but a controlled system could solve that: proof of residence, long cooldown for swapping regions, or manual support review. Heck, I would even be alright paying a fee to swap regions like you do for League of Legends, for example.
People move countries. FFXIV is a long-running MMO with players who have been subscribed for years. There really should be a legitimate path for those players to update their account/store region without losing everything and it upsets me that more noise isn't made about this issue.
