I don't know if you've seen it on social media, especially on X, but there's a dating appa sort of "Tinder" for players using the famous specialized launcher for "Against TOS" content to allow the installation of this Aetherlove plugin on FFXIV...
I'm going to lay my cards on the table because this makes me furious, i'm putting myself in a parent's shoes, on top of giving a bad name to modding as a whole, at this rate, i'm sorry, but there are children who play this MMORPG, granted, many will tell me "children don't play FFXIV" or "it's not a game for kids" as an excuse to accept highly problematic behavior...
To start off, what is Aetherlove? It's actually a plugin specialized in meeting people, a sort of Tinder app where you choose specific traits you're looking for in people: race, height, gender... in short, plenty of details just like a real-life dating app, featuring highly sexualized pictures of your character, and you have with this shitty app romance or “steamy” interactions you know what I’m getting at? ERP! (Erotic Roleplay) I’ve said this before, Erotic Roleplay isn’t my business, and I don’t care about it, as long as it’s done privately in a house or somewhere elseI couldn’t care less, but putting this kind of behavior out in the open and on social media for heaven’s sake, that’s just not okay, are people even aware of the issue here? I’ll say it again: “There are children on FFXIV.”
You know, I found out late about the massive drama surrounding Mare Synchronos, but as it stands, Yoshi-P needs to stop turning a blind eye and must take sanctions against modding as a whole. Now, yes, I risk making enemies by saying this, but if it helps prevent online deviance or problematic behavior, a crucial choice will have to be made: sanction all mods and go back to vanilla? Or accept that this type of practice is allowed in-game, and that future apps like Aetherlove will emerge? Modders right now are doing whatever they want and don't know the rules of Fight Club regarding this, so something really needs to be done to protect minors on this matter.
