Trekking through the MSQ yet again (as a certified altaholic), I just did my current alt's In From the Cold duty. As the title states, this one is one of my favorites, and I just wanted to take a moment to gush about it.
Lovely solo duty, and always a highlight of an MSQ playthrough. And just before one of my favorite dungeons, at that.

- Unlike most stealth sections in FFXIV, this one does it right. Magitek enemies that you can't afford to fight, but can avoid via routing alone. Enemy soldiers that you are encouraged to stealth around, but which can be fought in limited number if needed or desired. Abundant routes through the wreckage that avoid the crowded streets.
- Good variety between the exploration/stealth section at the beginning, the shooting gallery in the middle, and the group fight at the end.
- The first section manages to reward exploration in-and-of-itself, rather than making you feel like you're wasting time if not beelining for the objectives.
- I find it to be quite the successful exercise in granting additional perspective. Put in the shoes of a rank-and-file Garlean soldier, you're far weaker than in nearly any other duty. But weak is not the same thing as helpless, and the interplay with how it demonstrates relying on their technologies is fascinating.
- Every time the explosion kills the Garlean citizens I've known and fought with for all of 3 minutes, it hits me in the feels yet again.
Lovely solo duty, and always a highlight of an MSQ playthrough. And just before one of my favorite dungeons, at that.
