It would not surprise me if these farms alone fund all the RMT in the game, with how much Gil you can earn with these submarine bots, these people must be making hundreds of thousands of dollars a year from RMT.
A simple look at wards 1-9 (and their subdivisions) in every single housing area, on any world on Materia and you can blatantly see how infested it is.
Will SE actually do anything about it?
The obvious answer is no, because Materia is just that little island that they continue to ignore, while it slowly dies out.
