Here is a useful tip I found out: Once the licenses for the game are on your Square Enix account, you can simply download the free trial client and play the game normally from there! You do not need to buy the digital version from the PSN store if you want to play digital!!
I found this out because my gf has been using her Heavensward complete edition disk for ages, and wanted to not have to use it, so I talked to SE support and they told me about this!
