I always wondered if it'd be possible to just send back the data that you caught a fish. Its all calculated client-side, then a packet is sent back with if you caught something or not, the size of the fish (which determines what type it is) so on and so forth. I just never thought someone would be clueless enough to try it, as its relatively easy to see that someone is exploiting when they cash five fish a second.
On that note, someone experimented with this a long while back in a city fishing where you shouldn't be able to fish, and they caught all sorts of items, like Beds and whatnot, some items that weren't even in the game via regular methods.
