Let's try something a bit more constructive here and publish a personal wishlist for what we want to see from 8.0 going forward to revitalize FFXIV for years to come.
Let's also TRY to just publish wishlists and not devsplain or nitpick apart everyone elses lists, atleast before publishing our own lists.
STORY
A focus on more tightknit political stories, down to "earth" and approachable storylines. Make the nations of the world matter, make their relations to each other matter. Tone down the story from ends of the universe and boombastic explosions from universe-ending beings.
Focus on character-focused stories again, make us care for characters and their motivations. Focus on making dialogue believable between characters, reintroduce the Scions with their own motivations at the forefront instead of sidelining everyones motivations for the plot and making all characters just signposts or exposition banks on the way to a boss battle.
Think about your worldbuilding and how every decision you make affects it, including introducing technology or new types of magics. Include seasonal events as apart of explaining the lore and storylines of areas, visiting old regions to do so and show us how they change culturally or how they express their culture. Keep a tight knit package, less is more, just because you think something is cool don't add it. Think of the ramifications to the lore and worldbuilding. Work around the lore, do not insert a thing and make the lore work around it.
(Personal wish, make the next MSQ focus around a love story, a lot of FF's have a central lovestory to them. Also start focusing on your own stories instead of borrowing them from other FF's)
