What To Expect From The End-game After A Long Break ?

Hi guys,

I used to play ffxiv but I left at the heavensward time to play something else. I miss the game, I liked the gameplay (especially it's one of the only mmorpg I know that allows you to play with a gamepad), I liked the story, I liked the instanciated content, I liked the graphics and the musics.

Nevertheless, I used to get bored easily, as I'm a min-maxer player I found that artisan jobs weren't useful because you didn't need money to min-man your character (is it still the case ?), also the open world wasn't really useful either (is it still the case ?), I thought I didn't have a lot to do in this game, it was like "spam this instance until you get this stuff then spam this other instance and repeat".

It's not a big flaw actually, plus I know the game is in a really good state currently, so I could enjoy it again even if it hasn't changed, and I have a lot of content to discover as I missed tens of updates. It's just that I was being curious, has the pve content changed, or is it still "run the roulette and the highest content you can do until you get gear to run higher content. If there is no higher content yet, grind another job waiting for the next update" ?

Thanks for your time ! :)
