After starting as a monk and wishing it had more OGCds to weave, I picked up Gunbreaker, a class I was told had a lot of recurring oGCDs. After finding myself wishing that every GCD had a continuation and double weaving, I picked up dragoon, a class I was told had nice long burst phases with a lot of weaving. After Dragoon got old, I picked up Samurai, and had a blast making it through p12s with a casual static. I'm not a great player, hardly optimal, but more than anything I love business, the hustle and bustle of needing to backflip over to catch a positional after an aoe goes off, then barrage the boss in a flashy combo of double weaving madness.
I didn't know what to expect when I picked up Viper in Ul'dah, and I sure as heck spent a LONG time setting up my cross hotbar and learn how the abilities work, but...
Viper is the perfect class for someone that wants to press a lot of buttons and feel like a dual sword wielding badass! It's not a hard class, but has so many simple yet effective mini-games that mesh together to feel really really awesome! The fact that you can manipulate positionals by starting your coil combo with either a flank or rear, AND triple weave in a feint or true north to suit your needs without clipping, the quick reaction of learning which button I need to press for my second hit in a combo to know whether it's time to true north or wiggle over into hit my positional, and the phenomenal 1-2-3-4-5 re-awakening combo all feel so absolutely sick, I feel like I'm really embodying what the job quests said I was: I'm slashing and hacking and ducking and weaving to get crits on my enemy and it feels SO good, and I'm not even 90 yet to get all my ogcds and ouroboros finisher.
Now I heard that Yoshi is planning on simplifying the job, easing positional requirements and "various action effects"... PLEASE DON'T DO IT! I've finally found a job that will make me happy every time I get to use it at high level, and I know I can't be the only one that was looking for a job just like this made to cater to people like me.
I understand it might be a lot for some people, but not every job needs to be perfect for everyone just because it's new, and for a lot of people, I think it might unironically be hotbar or X-hotbar setup, as the original unedited crosshotbar is really bad and only allows a few buttons.
Please light up the forum so that SE knows that this job is perfect as it is! (Maybe with some personal mit added though... xP)
